April
April 2nd: the Fiesta Sant Francesc, a popular feast of St. Francis, is celebrated throughout the Balearic islands.
May
First Sunday in May: Fiesta de Maig in Santa Eulalia. This festival celebrates the arrival of Spring by parading flowers all over the town. It is one of the most colorful fiestas in the Balearic islands.
Second Sunday in May: Eivissa Medieval in Ibiza Town. This new festival includes concerts and dancing, celebrating the declaration of Dalt Villa as a World Heritage site in 1992. The Dalt Vila evolves into a medieval market with peddlars, noblemen, fakirs, snake charmers and minstrels. There's lots of acting and street shows, fire blowing, concerts and folklore events, offering an opportunity to learn more about the history of Eivissa.
June
June 23rd: The Night of Sant Joan. This is a mid summer solstice celebration and is popular across the whole of the Balearics. It is notable for its bonfires, and in Ibiza its accompanying macaroni which is much sweeter than the English version. Dancing, eating and general merriment.
July
July 15th to 16th: Dia de la Virgen de Carmen - held all over the Balearic islands, the feast of the patron saint of sailors includes parades and the blessing of fishing boats. Join the big open air mass, and marvel as the Virgin of Carmen is hauled onto a fishing boat which potters out to sea, then they throw a laurel wreath and return. The procession then marches on with the Virgin of Carmen in tow up to the Church of St Elm, greeted by a traditional 'Hail Mary' when they arrive.
August
August 8th: Sant Ciriacin Ibiza town. The feast commemorates the Spanish recapture of these islands in 1235. Head to the Dalt Vila where you can battle it out in the annual watermelon fight (a once in a lifetime opportunity) before watching a magnificent firework display after sunset.
August 15th: La Asunción / Assumption of the Virgin - this is a major religious festival that is held throughout Spain. It is one of the most important dates of the Christian calendar and a national holiday across Spain.
First 2 weeks in August: Fiesta de la Tierra / Earth Festival - The big festival in Eivissa has firework displays, a Santa Maria concert, a gold medal of Eivissa is awarded, there's a big mass on 6th August in honour of sea farers, and there are various rock concerts, other concerts and lots of things for children going on. There's also the Eivissa urban mile race as well during the Earth Festival.
September
September 11th: Dia de Catalunya - this is a national holiday throughout the islands. This date is the anniversary of the day in 1714 when the Franco-Spanish army captured Barcelona, bringing an end to the region’s independence. From political demonstrations to concerts, fireworks, parades through the streets, the day is marked in a unique Catalan style. This day is a public holiday and many shops and businesses will be closed
